Heizer Double Tap

Heizer Double Tap

1/23/2012

One of the more eye-catching and unusual pistols shown at SHOT Show this year is the new Heizer Double Tap. Using advanced design techniques and CNC machining, Heizer has developed a thin profile, monolithic frame over-under derringer chambered for modern defensive calibers.

The Double Tap will be available with either an aircraft-grade aluminum or titanium frame. Barrels will be available in .45 ACP or 9 mm, with or without porting, and a compartment in the grip holds two extra rounds. Complete pistols have an MSRP from $499 to $799 depending on the options selected, while interchangeable barrels will range from $249 to $319.

"I'd love to see the business plan for a company trying to make a profit selling $800 2 shot pistols." Pssst! Heizer knows there are *lots* of high-end consumers out there who would LOVE to have a small, concealable gun like this. (And "no", a single action derringer is not the same thing.)$800 is not too much for them. Once this market is (quickly) tapped-out, the price will come down dramatically. Check back next January.

Awsome design, thin, light weight and interchangable barrels. However why would anyone choose to buy this product when it costs more than anything that is compairable. $499-$799? Give me an LCP or a Darringer for half the cost... and I work for a gun store and could get this at dealer cost, still a crazy price!

Interesting design, however, over priced for what it can deliver considering how many other similar options there are.
