The Elite Tactical Advantage Devastator Shotgun

Elite Tactical Advantage Devastator Shotgun

Nestled in a corner booth at the 2011 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits, Elite Tactical Advantage, a manufacturer of firearms accessories, had the Devastator shotgun on display. Built on a Remington 11-87 shotgun platform, the Devastator's most interesting feature is its Recoil Reallocation System (RRS) that moves the standard recoil tube from the stock to forward of the receiver. By moving the recoil tube, the shotgun is able to accept a wide variety of stock configuations, and with the included adjustable springs in the new recoil system, the Devastator is able to compensate for a variety of shell loads and recoil, depending on user preference.

In addition to the RRS and smaller overall dimensions, the Devastator also features the company's 14-inch Rhino Rail, Bobcat 1100 fore-end, tactical trigger and charging handle to create a close-quarters, tactically inclined shotgun package that hasn't really been seen before. So noteworthy was the Devastator that several other companies on the exhibit hall floor were testing models to judge public interest.

the 1187s factory recoil system is not in front of the receiver, it is in the stock, so the RRS allows you to put other stocks on that you normally wouldn't be able to

I recently spoke to Elite Tactical Advantage about buying the parts for my 11/87 and they would not sell me the RRS kit. I would have to ship my 11/87 to them and this is their quote 'To have a gun converted the price is $999, which would include the top and bottom rails, the RRS kit, safety, follower, stock, grip, bolt charging handle, S2AR adapter and G-Hinge'. Not that bad but I would at least like to know there are several 11/87 Devastators out there that function flawlessly before I fork over my gun and a thousand bucks. There is only one youtube clip that I know of.

They do not sell the RRS kit to individuals, because they don't want to take the risk of having them do the installation wrong. You have to send your gun to them to have the conversion done.

I tried for 3 months to purchase the RRS and Bobcat rail for my 1100. I actually made a purchase with the owner, but the parts never arrived. Weeks of phone calls went unanswered.

I contacted ETA and have been trying for months to take delivery of the RRS and all that good stuff. All I did get was the wrong S2AR adapter which I returned. Orders promised to be shipped and nothing happens. There might be a problem with the system reliabilty that would explain my order never getting filled or it maybe that ETA is not ready for prime time in the special purposes gun industry.

An 11-87 still has the spring tube within the buttstock. The Devastator has relocated it under the forward grip, allowing the buttstock to fold out of the way and decreasing the felt recoil and muzzle rise. Check out ETA's website.

I would like a chance to shoot this. I'm not so sure what I think yet. I need to pick one up. I have some that I like better so far.

how is this any better than any other 1900's design of a pump or semiauto design for a shotgun??? It's 2011, come up with something new, and I'll consider it a change.

Haven't we confused an AR-15 recoil system with what was always on the 11-87? It's always been ahead of the receiver. Neat shotgun however! I'll keep my model 97 Trench Gun, however...:)
