Ruger SR9c

I’ve been holding back Ruger’s secret for two weeks now, and let me tell you, it’s been tough. I’ve seen other blog posts about them, but they’ve all been speculative. I wanted to let everyone know, but I couldn’t.

You might know that Ruger just introduced a few new handguns. Two are previously released guns in a new caliber, while the other is a new gun altogether—that’s the one I’m excited about.

The Ruger SR9c is a much improved SR9. The trigger is unexpectedly good. In fact, it’s so good that one of the editors joked around with our Ruger rep and asked who made the trigger for them. The new trigger is going to be put into all SR9’s from here on out. Unfortunately, you can’t retro fit your old SR9 with this new trigger.

The gun comes with a 10-round magazine with a flat buttplate and a finger grip extension floorplate if your hands are a little bigger. It also includes a 17-round magazine with a grip adapter, which increases the grip to the same size as a standard SR9. It has new serrations on the front of the slide, a 3.5-inch barrel and an accessory rail to accommodate most lights and lasers.

All in all, the new SR9C is pretty impressive and it holds its own with many of the other concealed-carry handguns we have in our vault.

Ive owned the SR9 for about two years and fired 400 rounds straight out of the box without a single jam. I have even accidentally missed my holster loaded(safety on), it landed on the back of the slide pointed up and never went off(whew!) My only complaint about it was it wasnt compact, and i carry concealed everyday. I was happy to trade in my Glock .40 for the SR9 and vowed to keep it forever because it is such a sweet pistol, but im breaking this vow the very next time i have a spare few minutes for the SR9c

Love it! Nice, light, and beautiful. I'm not the type of guy to buy a 9mm but couldn't resist the beauty mine was purchased from NRA with eagle laser engraved. Still love my desert eagle AE though

Purchased for my wife, fit her smaller hands perfectly. Unfortunately the very stiff slide is a problem. Lots of misfires on initial shot, I think she may not be able to pull the slide back far enough. Having particular problems with Remington ammo. Springs in the mags are also very stiff. Great little loading tool included solves the problem. Despite all that, shoots like a dream! Dead on out of the box.

I have had the Ruger SR9c for several weeks now with a couple hundred rounds through it. No failures of any type and it has fine combat accuracy. It is now my primary CCW piece. I will not knock other guns, I just happen to love Rugers and own a few. Customer service is also excellent.

I've looked at glocks, owned Springfield, Sig and S&W, as soon as I felt the SR9c in my hands I was sold. Undoubtedly the most comfortable compact, I have really big hands and its hard to find a comfortable compact but even with the short mag this one is amazing, and the accuracy trumps any Xd or glock that I've ever shot, this is a fantastic product.

I just received my carry permit. I went to look at several compact handguns, really liked the feel of the SR9C. I tried it out at the in-store range, bullseye first shot at 25 ft. Every shot went right where I wanted it. Bought one immediately, no regrets.

Love this gun !! Feels great and fits in any holster i choose to carry it in. Im in Mass so they really frown apon any of your weapon( or bulge of your weapon ) showing. If got drawing it quickly down to a science. The thumb saftey is easy to find when you are rushed and the sights, although white, are easy to allign. My only gripe was that it hates Winchester White Box. Semi's are fickle about ammo sometimes and was an easy fix switching to Federal. As for personal protection ammo, Hornady xtp 115 gr. Solid gun and fun to shoot.

Love it!! I am in Illinois so the carry option isn't something I can do until new laws pass( if they every pass) but I have put thru 3000 rounds thru mine and I havent has any problems. I reload with lead bullets not FMJ. very accurate. Love it!!.... my wife has never shot before and she doesnt like it so much. it stove pipes on here every other shot (limp wrist) she has been practicing on getting no more limp wrist. till then we got her a ruger mark 3 target. she is shooting that great.

I was at the NRA show this year and noticed ruger had it's name on a pepperspray , new to the market I believe. Seems very innovative and ingenious, gonna kill the competition with it's quick release mechanism and light / strobe all built together. Can't wait to see it on shelves . Very well put together It's called the tornado by ruger www.tornadodefencesystem.com is where I found it . I'm guessing it will appear on the ruger website soon

I got my SR-9c a couple of months ago. I have found it to be an excellent gun. No malfunctions whatsoever...and it is accurate! One of the most accurate guns I've ever shot and I didn't even have to touch the sights to adjust them. This has become my primary CCW gun.

Heard the hype, and got one for me as a carry and for my wife as a small range gun. OH MY GOSSHHH, nothing but trouble!! Every other shot is a stove-pipe, or double feed. What the heck? My Springfield XD NEVER gives me ANY trouble. I like how this gun feels and shoots, but the feed troubles keep me from rating this guy very highly. Gonna try switching ammo from Remington, so, we'll see...

I purchased the SR9c in April of 2010. After looking at numerous other 9mm pistols in gun shops and researching on the web and magazines I picked the SR9c for my CC pistol. The fit with the adjustable backstrap is perfect. After close to 500 rounds, no misfires or failure to feeds, I'm completely satisfied with the performance of this Ruger. It is a solid feeling and performing pistol. This will not be my only Ruger. Next will be the LCR.

LCP in 9mm? That would be the Rohrbaugh R9. Only much more reliable.

Like many I was looking for a much smaller gun for a pocket...like an LCP only in 9mm?? This is much to big and if intention was as a piddle gun, missed the mark.

I've owned a Walther P38 for years, then decided to buy the SR9C to go along with my new concealed carry permit. I shot hollow point ammo through both guns. The Walther jammed off and on. The Ruger didn't.

Pecos Bill, Ruger does not "copy" other weapons, remember, "Form Follows Function". Patrick,If an "ugly" gun will face down an ugly felon, I am all for it.

I have had the SR9c for a month and it lives up to all the hype. This is my first Ruger but certainly not my last. Might even try out their SR-556.

Just bought this gun this afternoon. After looking at my other options for CCW, I kept coming back to this gun. Not sure how it shoots but if it shoots 1/2 as good as it feels, I'll have a big smile on my face after breaking this in. I've got 5 boxes of ammo that have this guys name written on them.

I found my new best friend!! I can not say enough about this gun. The trigger is much better now. It is a dream to shoot, and even better to carry. I carry it in a cross breed IWB holster every day all day and I almost forget its there. I'm going to buy anouther one for the wife

I bought the SR9c and it is far from cheaply made and the trigger is nothing short of fantastic. Better than my friends Sig, better than a Glock, and better than my XDm .40...not much better than my well broken in XDm, but a little better. The price is right too. Anyone on the fence or not "in the know" needs to put one in their hands. They will find it a superior handgun to the big brother SR9. I cannot say enough about this little pistol.

I don't mean to offend anyone, thus far,I am not impressed with the SR9, it feels and it looks cheaply made, not to mention the trigger job. I expect nothing different on Ruger's SR9C. If you are in the market for a nice 9mm compact for a backup or even as your main gun, you may want to take a look at the good, nice looking and reliable Walther P99 -9mm. It comes with 2 10 rnd. magazines and you can additionally purchase the 15 rnd. high capacity mags. I've had mine for about 2 years and it has not failed me at all even with re-loads, very easy to field strip and maintenance is a snap, it hardly gets dirty after a couple hundred rounds fired through it.

This strikes me as Ruger's version of my Smith M&P9c, interesting. It reminds me of Ruger's "KelTec P3AT V.2." Oops, sorry, that's the Ruger LCP. Ruger makes some of the finest guns in the world, why do they have to imitate?
