If you haven't tried one, you need to check out a little gadget called the BoreSnake. This woven, pull-through bore cleaning device makes firearm cleaning faster and easier. The BoreSnake comes compressible and caliber-specific. All you have to do is feed the thin end into the barrel from the rear until the loop exits the muzzle, then grab it and pull the thick section completely through the bore. A bore brush is woven into the thick part of the device and one or two passes will do a good job of cleaning a barrel. The rest of the gun needs attention in the long run, but a Boresnake can keep you shooting accurately for a long time.
