A lucky group of hunters present for the NRA Annual Meetings in Pittsburgh got to sit down for nearly two hours and explore safari hunting with Craig Boddington, the man who knows as much or more about the subject than anyone ever. Over the course of nearly 100 safaris, Boddington has hunted more than 20 African countries for an incredible array of game. Talking Africa with him is like talking songwriting with Paul McCartney or quarterbacking with Joe Montana. Seriously.
Boddington’s presentation ranged from the dangerous Big Five to myriad antelope and other unique animals. He revealed firsthand tips on identifying top areas and outfitters, on African geography, on safari-camp etiquette, and on guns and loads for Africa’s diverse game offerings. It was a crash course delivered in the campfire-buddy style that has made Boddington’s prolific writings and film work so engaging to hunters for more than three decades. Like all seminars at the NRA meetings, this intimate session with the world’s foremost safari expert was free of charge for show attendees, just one more example of how NRA continues to fulfill its 125-year commitment to hunters and shooters.
