The Colt 380 Mustang Pocketlite in Action

The Colt 380 Mustang Pocketlite at SHOT Show 2012

It's not easy to make make a classic even better, but Colt brought its  A-game with the new Colt .380 Mustang Pocketlite.

Small, lightweight, durable and accurate, the new .380 Pocketlite is being pitched as an improved version of Colt's popular classic Mustang model.

Weighing less than a pound—and that's after the six-round magazine has been loaded—the .380 Mustang Pocketlite is set to be a compact and reliable personal defense option.

AmericanRifleman.org contributor Dave Campbell got his hands on this sleek little Colt and passed a few rounds through it at the 2012 Media Day at the Range in Boulder City, Nev.

So Mr. Campbell slaps a new mag into the pistol and tries firing it, unsuccessfully, originally seeming to forget that the slide is back. Maybe he should stick to writing about guns and leave the shooting to those more experienced.

They are late to their own game. They should have brought out the same gun in their .380 govt. size but in 9mm. Love the mustang, but they did not improve on it. Now, Sig copied them and then stepped it up with a 9mm version. I think a version in the size of their govt model, slim yet a bigger grip and sight radius would be great. I sold mine only because the prices were climbing so high, it was too much to pass up.
