Smith & Wesson didn’t just dip its toes into the .308 Winchester AR market—it jumped in head first with its M&P10.

A variety of features ensure that the M&P10 stands out from other large-receiver ARs. Among them is a firing pin spring that's designed to eliminate the potential for an unintentional discharge upon chambering a round. The rifle also has a Smith & Wesson-designed and built, patent-pending Enhanced Flash Hider.

The rifle tips the scales at less than 8 pounds, which is relatively lightweight even for an AR chambered in 5.56 NATO—which is saying something, since the M&P is chambered in .308 Win., 7.62 NATO.

There are 2 different designs for >308 AR's, DPMS/Stoner SR-25 and Armalite. The DPMS pattern is far more commom than the Armalite. PMag makes magazines for the DPMS pattern rifle.

I don't know where these after-market magazines are, but would like to know so that I can get a spare. Also, since this rifle comes with no sights, no vendor seems to be able to answer if their sights will co-witness with the likes of an EOTech. As an aside, I am waiting for authorization to return the bolt and bolt carrier since the cam-pin cannot be removed as the cam pin will not come past the - for lack of proper nomenclature - gas fitting on the bolt carrier. Oh, I would like to clean it and go to the range! On the plus side, the ambidextrous mag release and safety controls are a very positive sales feature.

Just got one , as did a friend 2 weeks ago ,havnt fired it yet , but my buddys has already been sent back as it ate up the brass on the 1st 5 rounds and then jammed . The same ammo fits his other 308s just fine , also my mags on my other 308 an Armalite ,DO NOT fit this gun . S&W said to my dealer only S&W mags will work , well see,,,,,

Will S&W be making a 4 round clip for hunting. They said this rifle could be used for hunting but it comes with a 10 round clip.
