Two teenage boys were spotted by a neighbor as they loaded items from the cabin next door into a vehicle parked outside. The youths wore what appeared to be blood-spattered clothing. The neighbor retrieved a firearm and confronted the interlopers. They were held at gunpoint until police arrived. The teens had run away from a juvenile rehabilitation camp just two days before. They had broken into the cabin and brutally murdered the elderly couple staying there before the armed citizen was able to stop them. (The Kansas City Star, Springfield, MO, 4/24/13)

At 11:18 p.m. Friday, Cheltenham Township Police went to the Lynnewood Gardens apartments after a report of a shooting. They found Jasper Brisbon, 32, in the living room of one of the units, with a gunshot wound to his torso. He was taken to Abidngton Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police said Brisbon had forced his way into an apartment and confronted a resident, who got an AR-15 and insisted Brisbon leave. When Brisbon approached him instead, the resident fired one shot, then called 911, authorities said. The resident has not been charged with a crime, said Montgomery County First Assistant District Attorney Kevin Steele. (The Philadelphia Inquirer, Philadelphia, PA, 4/23/13)

From The Armed Citizen Archives
August 1976: After asking to see a rifle on display in Harold Von Wahlde's Anderson, Ind., gun store, a man pulled out a revolver and demanded money. Von Wahlde, 71, attempted to grab the gun and a struggle ensued. When the robber's gun misfired, Von Wahlde grabbed a .38 cal. handgun from a shelf behind him and fired one shot that mortally wounded the thug. (The Anderson Daily Bulletin, Anderson, Ind.)

This is for Doug on 7/12. Unfortunately, that's the approach many took in the last election. "It's my way or else I'm not voting". Look what we got. No one will be perfect but we as a collective must get our act together to get control of Govt. Little steps forward are still better the the giant steps backward that we've been taking lately. Instead of saying I'm voting libertarian period, how about we vote to get control of Govt. period. Get the career politicians out. That alone would be a big step in removing the special interest politicos. Removing the far left from power would help return us to the type of country I think most of us want. Get folks the actually have read the Constitution and understand its meaning to this country instead of people that believe it a "working document" that should be "constantly evolving" to keep up with the whims of some of the lunatics in our society. We, IMHO, need a govt. that understands what the governments job is, and what it isn't, instead off over reaching and attempting to control our lives.

Every Christian should became a gun owner. If your doing the Great Comission as commanded to do, how will continue to share Gods' Word if your not here?

Indeed it is a shameful sham that media bias fails to report the good done by responsibly armed citizens.

Think about it... w/o weapons, all of these these awesome reports we read in the American rifleman would've also been in the news but as BAD NEWS for the good guys!

It seems that the most honest, law abiding citizens take the hit for the criminals. It is their plan to remove / disable firearms from all US citizens. Just a little law at a time ! NY state went way over board and the true citizens responded. Hope it helped cause I don't see any changes so far. Oh, the people that vote for scum are all laughing at US, the working man/woman!

Fantastic....congrads to all. It's just unfortunate that more and more don't realize that in today's society we all need to be prepared to defend ourselves, our family and other from such scum out there today. I pains me to hear of people, especially the elderly, senselessly attacked, gun down and murdered over measely material processions. We CAN NOT depend on law enforcement all the time to respond within the hour, let alone minutes.

Rick, you are so blind. We need a different approach. Rand Paul is going to run and my vote will go to him, however if he does not make the cut like his father, I will be voting libertarian period. I am tired of the two party corruption system.

Who are we going to run to replace the current President? I can make an accurate guess of who the Dems will run: Clinton or Biden or Kerry or Bloomburg??? We better not run the same crop we had last time.

I have held a cwp since 1981. I carry everywhere outside my home. I hope I never have to use my weapon, but if a situation should arise I am prepared. God bless the USA and the NRA.

I love reading the American Rifleman's armed citizen, i'm on the cheerleading team for this. I'm not a sixth degree black belt in aikedo like Steven Segall is, and i can't run because of to much injury to my right leg, so my backup is a highpoint .45 if need be. I hope i never come to that scenerio. Liberty is the right to protact yourself by this extream means,

we need to be concerned about the next election cycle the guy that presides is somewhat stymied, but hilary is waiting in the wings and she is much more savy politically and her agenda is definitely to defeat the NRA. these polititian don't care about public safety but rather the fact that someone takes a stand against them.......

Love to hear these inspiring stories of citizens winning out over the thugs. The great long term benefit of these encounter is, a lot of these thugs will never, ever have the opportunity to harm another human. How much future suffering is prevented by these good citizens is another thing you will never hear the lamestream media reporting on!
