2/1/2011 Winchester Ammunition has announced an expansion of its popular PDX1 Defender line of personal defense ammunition to include .223 Rem., .357 Sig and .357 Mag., in addition to its already-successful .410 shot shell and .45 Colt cartridges. The new handgun ammunition weighs 125 grains and features a hollow point with jacket notching to help promote consistent expansion, as well as a nickel plated shellcase to assist in ejection. The PDX1 Defender .223 Rem. ammunition uses Split Core Technology that allows the front lead core to quickly expand while the rear bonded-lead core provides superior penetration. The .223 Rem. PDX1 bullet weighs 60 grains and achieves a velocity of 2,750 feet per second. The .410 shot shell/.45 Colt combination pack contains 10 rounds of each ammunition, designed for specialty revolvers like the Taurus Judge, which feature the ability to chamber either. The PDX1 Defender line of .410 shot shells features 4 Defense Disc projectiles and 16 plated BBs to provide maximum defense capability at short range.
