Winchester Lead-Free Rimfire Ammunition

Winchester has introduced rimfire ammo for areas that have transitioned to lead-free zones.

12/9/2010

Like it or not, many hunting areas and ranges have transitioned to lead-free zones, and this trend appears to be spreading. Although ammunition manufacturers have responded nicely to fulfill the need for high-performance non-lead loads, and now options abound for center-fire rifles and shotguns, and to a lesser extent, muzzleloader projectiles, until recently there have been few choices for rimfires.

For 2010, Winchester has added two options that further diversify the category. Loaded in its Super-X line, the .22 Long Rifle load propels its lubed, tin hollow-point bullet at a factory-touted 1,650 fps for 157 ft.-lbs. of energy, while the .22 Win. Mag. round features a 28-grain, copper-alloy-jacketed tin hollow-point bullet and has a muzzle velocity of 2,200 fps for 301 ft.-lbs. of energy. These lead-free loads are sold in 50-count packages.

I'd like to see the gun industry stop caving in to the anti-gun crowd. First it was the black talons and now this. I've made a living my whole life in the gun industry, yet I've never had to trade my core beliefs about my 2nd Amendment rights for a buck. You made a wrong move about the talons and you made a wrong move here.
