Springfield Armory has announced the release of the XD(M) Compact in a long-awaited caliber—the .45 ACP. The XD(M) Compact in .45 will be shipped in either black or two-tone stainless steel and black in a few weeks.

The frame is black polymer with a forged steel slide and an overall length of 7 inches. It also comes with a fully supported rail and two magazines—one holding nine rounds and one holding 13 rounds. With the nine-round magazine, the XD(M) .45 has a 4.55-inch height, while the extended magazine extends that by 1 additional inch. The XD(M) Compact in .45 comes with three-dot sights and a trigger pull between 5.5 and 7.7 pounds. For more information, go to Springfield-Armory.com.

I am an Executuve Protection Agent. I trust my life and my clients life with this weapon system. I've waited two years for them to come out with this model chambered in a .45. Thank you springfield. I'll be making a B line to get one. With the double safety mechanics on this weapon you do not need a thumb safety. When you get that adrenal dump you go to gross motor skills; simple things like decock, or releasing the safety become extremly hard. Less is more.
