Shiloh Sharps Salute

The Shiloh Sharps Rifle Company is giving a custom Montana Roughrider .45-70 Gov’t rifle to an active-duty American Serviceman or Woman.

5/2/2012

For the fifth time, Shiloh Sharps Rifle Company will conduct a drawing for a custom Montana Roughrider .45-70 Gov’t rifle to an active-duty American Serviceman or Woman. The drawing will be held on Sept. 11, 2012. With a 30-inch, heavy octagon barrel, extra fancy wood, pack-hardened finish, brass escutcheons, polished barrel and screws, a pewter tip and a steel buttplate engraved with the words “Salute Our Military 2012” inlaid in gold, the lucky hero will take home a gorgeous rendition of an American classic. In addition, the winner’s name, rank, rate and military branch will be engraved on a metal plate inletted into the buttstock and Rand’s Custom Hats will donate a bespoke hat.

“This project was started in 2008 to say thank you and to recognize our active duty military men and women for their service to our country,” said Shiloh Sharps’ Lucinda Klostermeier. “We have a big Invitational Silhouette Match where we have someone very special each year to draw the name for us, and when we started this project, the [Match] shooters’ felt it was such a great thing that they put together a “From the Shooters” rifle to also be drawn the same day. So, two names now get drawn.”

Last year’s winners were Marine Joshua Lyle and Coastguardsman Sean Persinger, the latter of whom took home the “From the Shooters” rifle.

To enter the drawing, you must be on full-time active duty between Sept. 12, 2001 and Sept. 11, 2012, be a reservist called to six consecutive months of active duty during that time period or be honorably discharged during the drawing period. The winner must provide verification of service and/or honorable discharge when his or her name is drawn. Entry forms are available at shilohrifle.com.

I own a Shiloh 45-70 and that is wonderful, a way to show OUR men and women in uniform that WE THE PEOPLE are offering something for their service. Thank you Shiloh
