Ruger More Than Halfway to Million Gun Challenge

Ruger presents its second quarter-million dollar check to NRA as it moves closer to its goal.

11/22/2011

Sturm, Ruger & Company has reached the halfway point in its Million Gun Challenge to Benefit the NRA. In fact, during the first two quarters of the challenge, Ruger has sold 556,100 firearms, which puts it at 56 percent of its 1 million gun goal.

On Nov. 17, 2011, which happened to be NRA’s 140th birthday, Ruger presented a $276,500 check to NRA, representing a $1 donation for every gun sold in the second quarter of the challenge.

"Selling one million guns in one year to the commercial firearms market is something that we believe has never been done, but because of our strong product line and incredibly loyal customers, Ruger is making it happen," said Ruger President and CEO Mike Fifer. "We are proud to be sharing this accomplishment with the NRA, and feel confident that we will meet our goal of donating $1,000,000 to the NRA. Thank you to all of our customers that have participated in this challenge; you are making this achievement and donation possible.”

The final check presentation will be conducted at the 2012 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits held April 13 to April 15 in St. Louis, Mo. For more information about the Ruger Million Gun Challenge to Benefit the NRA, please go to Ruger.com.

I began to acquire new and used Rugers in 1961. I recognized their strong durable designs from their first offerings. I'm glad to have been a tiny 'one customer' part of their steady support to the NRA to whom we all owe our continued shooting freedoms! Donate to the NRA/ILA soon.

I like Ruger a lot. They offer a firearm for everyone, and many of their firearms are not only practical but heavy duty. I was originally not fond of Ruger, but have warmed up to them after they updated their products--for example the heavier barrel on their Mini-14. It was a must! I am in no way celebrating Mr. Ruger's passing. Even if we may not have fully seen eye-to-eye, I understand the limit on his rifles to more of a sporting outlook. But in this age of terrorism and the unknown it is nice to have a couple extra rounds (in certain configurations). I enjoy my Gunsite Scout Rifle and plan to purchase a 5-rd magazine (metal not plastic) as soon as funds allow :) There, "...Just ain't nothin' like a Bolt Rifle with irons." I also would not mind a Ruger M77 Hawkeye Standard Rifle in .25-06! Boy would my eyes widen if I found one of them for Christmas haha! Thanks
