Ruger presented the final check in a series that totaled $1,254,000, delivering on its "1.2 Million Gun Challenge to Benefit the NRA" at the 2012 NRA Annual Meetings & Exhibits in St. Louis, Mo.

The company sold 382,500 firearms in the fourth and final quarter of the challenge, which ended on March 31. The final push was enough to kick sales for the year to over 1.2 million, a goal that was upped from 1 million at SHOT Show 2012.

Ruger originally set the bar at 1 million at the 2011 NRA Annual meetings, but huge sales figures led the company to decide 1 million wasn't enough, leading to the 1.2 million figure.

Building and selling 1 million guns in a single year was originally a goal of Bill Ruger, Sr., and the company believes that it's the first member of the firearms industry to complete the task.
