Sturm, Ruger & Co., makers of the new SR1911 pistol and Gunsite Scout Rifle, is proud to announce the “Million Gun Challenge” to benefit NRA. Ruger pledges to donate $1 million to NRA if one million new Ruger firearms are sold between the 2011 and 2012 NRA Annual Meetings and Exhibits. The 2011 Meetings, held in April, saw more than 71,000 attendees, and the 2012 NRA Annual Meetings are scheduled for April 13-15, 2012 in St. Louis, Mo.

“Our goal is to present the NRA with a check for one million dollars during the 141st NRA Annual Meeting,” said Ruger CEO Mike Fifer. “This substantial donation would reflect a record-breaking feat in the firearms industry, as we believe no company has ever sold one million firearms in a 12-month period. With the help of our loyal customers, we hope to make history and to share that accomplishment with NRA.”

Man I tell you! The sacasm on these comments sucks. If anything everyone should be proud of the support and proud that their preferred gun of choice is that hard to find. It means someone (ie. Ruger and supporters) are doing something right!

If Strum,Ruger & Co. says that it will donate $1 mil. to the NRA if they sell 1 million guns, they should be ashamed of themselves. They make plenty of money now so don't promise just do it.

Oh great. Sounds like, as usual, another firearm I want to purchase will be impossible to find. Add the Ruger 1911 to this list.

I'd love to help them out by buying an SR1911, but they seem to be made of unobtainium...you can't find one anymore.
