From the company synonymous with multi-tools comes its latest introduction, the Military Utility Tool, or MUT.
With advice from U.S. Army soldiers, Leatherman incorporated a bolt override hook at the base of the handle designed to grab the leading edge of an AR-15/M16 bolt carrier to help eject jammed cases. A bronze, replaceable carbon-scraping tool can safely reach and remove carbon build-up from all surface areas of AR bolt carriers, and a recessed blade on the base is shaped to cut 550 cord or flex cuffs without opening the handles.
Other tools include hard-wire and stranded-wire cutters, cleaning rod/brush threads, carbiner/bottle opener, saw, disassembly punch, screwdriver bits, and a 3-inch 420HC combo knife. Also included is a 1/2- and 3/8-inch wrench that slides into the back of the included MOLLE sheath. The MUT weighs 11.2 ounces and measures 5x1x1 1/2 inches closed.
