The Galco slip-on Recoil Pad fits snugly over the butt of shotguns and rifles and is held in place with an overlapping hook-and-loop fastener.


It is made of chestnut or dark havana leather and has a 1/2-inch-thick shock absorbing gel, which the company claims can reduce felt recoil by up to 50 percent. Price: $78.

Don't bother ordering a chestnut colored pad, even if it is advertised at multiple distributors across the net. Galco is substituting the ugly Dark Havana color without regard to customer preferences. I got two of these from two different distributors after giving explicit instructions not to substitute color. Galco has since admitted to me that they no longer make the chestnut color. Unfortunately, they forgot to tell their distributors, who apparently order on demand for customers, or drop ship. So if you want to pay $10 for return shipping, and spend your afternoon driving across town to the UPS store to return a pad you didn't order, I would suggest you don't buy from Galco.
