Brownells, popular purveyor of firearm accessories and parts, announced the release of a new AR-15/M16 "Paratrooper" charging handle that offers the longest grasping surface available for an AR charging handle on the market today, 2.5 inches.

The Paratrooper charging handle features a oversized left-side lever with a serrated front face to increase purchase and hand contact at the critical point of charging the firearm. The angled folding hinge allows the handle to be retracted slightly down and away, against the receiver, to maintain a slim profile when not in use. This design feature also allows other accessories, such as scopes or sights, to remain unhindered.

The Brownells Paratrooper charging handle requires no gunsmithing and is machined from the same aluminum as USGI receivers and hardcoat-anodized in black to reduce corrosion and surface wear.

For more information on the Paratrooper charging handle, visit the Brownells website and enter stock number #080-000-819.

As said above this is NOT a good idea for a rifle going into combat, this kind of item is and was devloped for the civ market. on a match rifle running 3 gun. as said before combat rifles can and will go through hell and any little wiget that can catch on kit or break will. plus this is just another kick at extended charging handles.

Oh poo! This is a great charging handle, not a suicide machine! It folds up nice and out of the way yet is large enough for a man with large hands or gloves on to work the charger quickly, without fumbling and with his left hand without removing the rifle from his shoulder. A great thing in a firefight!!!

This is suicide equipment. It will hang on gear, pull the bolt out of battery, and/or bend/twist the charging handle. The M-16 charging handle is not designed to withstand asymmetrical force. I'd stay away from this item.
