These electronic earmuffs not only protect the wearer’s hearing from loud impulse noises, they actively amplify ambient sound, allowing range commands and the like to be easily understood.
Two microphones, one on each ear cup, pick up environmental noises, and a volume-control knob on the left earpiece activates and adjusts amplification. An audio-in jack allows MP3 players and similar to play through the earmuffs.
The Impact Sport has a sleek design and folds together for easy transport and storage. The energy efficient headset is powered by two AAA batteries, which provide an estimated 350 hours of use. Price: $60.
