The Oregon-based optics manufacturer has created a textbook example of strong branding. The Leupold brand is associated with extremely high quality, yet with a mid-range price. Now that’s a trick! Whenever you can deliver a perception of quality that far exceeds the price, you’re rocking.

I love going to the range and putting really small groups on paper. Shooting bullseyes makes me believe that I’m a pretty decent shot, which we all want to be.

Consumer confidence is in the news more than usual these days, what with the economy looking like Jerry Cooney after the 10th round. Even though that term has a specific meaning in macro-economics, it led me to ponder a similar matter—brand loyalty.

Col. Jeff Cooper was a legend in the shooting and self-defense worlds. In addition to being instrumental in refining and popularizing many modern pistol and self-defense techniques, Col. As much as I am fond of old classic gun books, I also enjoy modern ones when they present themselves. One of the best I have seen in several years is Mike Bussard's “Ammo Encyclopedia,” published by Blue Books Publications.

I am endlessly fascinated with the .45 Auto Rim cartridge developed by the Peters Cartridge Co. during the 1920s. The cartridge was designed to be used in.45 ACP revolvers made during World War I.
