So jet-lagged and sleep-deprived is how I began my 20th SHOT Show in row. There are no prizes or ribbons for such things. A late departure (thanks to perhaps the most uncivil woman I have ever observed being ejected from my plane to Las Vegas) and the time change eating at me resulted in an even, seemingly, earlier start to Media Day At The Range, which was the best I have experienced in years.

Smith & Wesson's M&P line continues to be one of the most popular brands in the industry, and 2013 offers a series of new M&P models designed with the competitive shooter in mind. Based on the Pro Series line of competition-ready firearms, the M&P C.O.R.E. (Competition Optics Ready Equipment) models offer consumers a platform that's already ready to have any accessory optics added to it. The C.O.R.E. pistols are engineered to accept six popular styles of competition based optics, and should meet any demand a gun owner may have.

The FNS-9 was conceived as a reliable and accurate duty-size pistol that could be wielded by a wide array of people, and it fits that bill with ease. The pre-loaded striker mechanism pistol is stable, ergonomic and completely ambidextrous. It's easy to operate, and offers fast and accurate shooting. Oh, and it's got a generous 17+1 capacity.

Featuring a few more modern features—most notably a picatinny rail for optic mounting—the classic .22LR pistol made its triumphant return at SHOT Show's Media Day at the Range, and Sheriff Jim Wilson couldn't have been much happier about it. The Model 41 will be available through Smith & Wesson's Performance Center. Sheriff Jim breaks down all the perks of the reintroduced Model 41 in the video below:

When Ruger rolled out its SR1911, it was a big deal. So it shouldn't come as any surprise that the company has decided to expand its 1911 line. The logical first step? Releasing the new SR1911 Commander. The Commander has a 4.25" barrel, Novak Style Sights and walnut stocks. Just like its big brother, the Commander is all stainless steel. It ships with a pair of 7-round magazines.

Thanks to its XD-S in .45 ACP, Springfield Armory was one of the toasts of SHOT Show 2012. Heck, the XD-S was so innovative that it went on to be named the American Rifleman Handgun of the Year. When you hit a home run like that, there's not a lot that needs changing, and Springfield agreed. So, for 2013, Springfield rolled out a slightly updated version of the XD-S: except this time it's in 9 mm.

The Tavor was originally developed in close cooperation with the Israel Defense Force (IDF), and is in service with the IDF as well as in the force of other countries around the world. It will be making its first appearance in American markets in late February or early March 2013.

So, how do you go about making a double-barreled shotgun more enticing? You add another barrel. That's Chiappa's strategy, at least, with the new Triple Threat Shotgun. The triple-barreled design is based on a traditional two-barrel shotgun design—with the third barrel resting on the top, giving the gun a pyramidal arrangement. The Triple Threat is designed to be a defense gun, and comes with a shorter stock that can be converted to a pistol grip.

Though they’re not as commonplace as they once were, lever-action rifles are inherently American. They've earned their place in the country's history, and are most often associated with the Old West. Rossi tried to capture all of that lore when it released our latest Gun of the Week, the Rio Grande.
