SIG Sauer P226 Elite SAO (Page 2)

The P226 Elite SAO takes its cues from both the traditional lineup of SIG pistols and the competition-proven X-series, allowing it to serve double duty for competition and self-defense.

Have two 226 with rails. Shooting 357 sig. rounds. Great accuracy, have arthritis in my right hand and had the barrel and slide ported. Big difference with recoil and accuracy. Have full wraparound grips that helps cushion recoil as well. A great pistol. Very accurate. 11/23/13

I own a P226 Elite SAO. I have shot 700 rounds of crappy loads. Plus 50 Fantastic Horandy rounds. Gun Shoots flawess.

Art, It is slightly cheaper than a factory 9mm 1911, and much much more reliable. 1911s have real problems when running 9mm. Otherwise, it has slightly shorter barrel, and hence sight radius, and similar weight. Any decent 1911 probably has a cleaner trigger.

Love SIGs, have both a 229 and a 239. Both in .40 S&W. Neither has ever hiccuped or sneezed at the wide variety of fodder I've put through them. Great triggers, easy to takedown and clean, just outstanding pistols! Having said that, while I'm sure the 226 is just as great, I can't stand squared off trigger guards; they are totally superfluous, ugly and they encourage a less than ideal grip on the firearm.

How does it compare to a 9mm 1911 that is about the same price?

I have one and so far I love it. I'm not as fast as you are but I hope to get there.
