Well that H&R is just a pile of junk, and 80[%] of the 500's fly open when shot. I know, I've had two both were sent back for repair and they still wouldn't stay shut when fired.

Beautiful rifle, but not for the average guy. For 1/10th of that price you can buy a H&R Handi-Rifle chambered in 500 S&W and be just as effective.

I still think the best caliber ever invented for lever guns is and always will be the .30-30. I can do more with a .30-30 with modern ammo at longer ranges than can be done with revolver cartridges that are only effective to 100 yards or so because it shoots flatter than the revolver cartridges. The leverevolution ammo for the .30-30 tacks on 100 yards of effective range on deer sized game with the .30-30 to 300 yards.

Nice home security gun, the .500 Smith & Wesson Magnum Cartridge will make a very big hole. Indeed.

Can't afford to go 'traipsing' around Alaska looking for bear to shoot with my .500 S&W lever action Model 89!
Make a .41 magnum model so I can 'traipse' around the Pennsylvania woods looking for a bear to shoot

For that much money, you could buy a 45-70 Marlin guide gun, a Rossi Rio Grande 30-30, A Taurus Big Loop .45 LC saddle ring carbine, a Henry lever .22, and some ammo. There's nothing the Bighorn would do that could not be done better by one of these rifles. But this is America! More power to ya!

I fell in love with the Model 89 in the Hot Wood Maple at first sight. Well worth every penny.

I agree with Dennis, almost $2300 for a lever gun that shoots pistol ammo is way too much $$$.

Expensive because they make so few of them per month. If they made all the jigs, dies, automated CNC machines, it would be offered at half the price because no one else makes them. However, we must add all the addtional employees they have to hire to be covered by the Affordable Care Act. Since this is a tool, they can use solid Walnut of a much lower exhibition grade quality.
I just would love to find a Winchester 94 Trapper in 30-30.
