Colt Tactical .22 (Page Two)

For fun, training and pinching pennies.

After cleaning the rifle and returning the screw to its original position, stoppages were minimal. During a weekend excursion, a Rifleman staff member and his family fired in excess of 450 rounds with standard, high-velocity and hyper-velocity ammunition with only two stoppages. Subsequent accuracy tests totaled 150 rounds with no stoppages.

The Colt .22 Tactical Rimfire is a good rifle for the young shooter interested in getting involved with tactical-style firearms, as well as the older, cost-conscious plinker, and anyone else who just likes shooting rapid-fire .22s. It's fun to shoot, and as one of the young men who went on the weekend excursion attested, "This is the most awesome thing I've ever done!"

Had mine, the M4 OPS version, for about two months now and have put 850 rounds through it. Great rifle! Not one single problem. No FTEs, FTFs or feed problems, it's rock solid. Have shot Federal bulk, Winchester Super X, CCI mini mags and even Colibri 375 fps primer only rounds. (Of course you have to manually cycle the rifle for these) Did not clean it before firing, took it out of the box and right to the range and put 500 trouble free rounds through it. Then cleaned it, which is rather a pain, and put the next 350 through it. (Walther only recommends cleaning every 500 rounds) Accurate as well, we plink mostly and it's set for 25 yards. The trigger needs help, breaks funny and has too much pull in my opinion. Very pleased with this rifle.

This thing is a piece of junk!! Do NOT buy it. It fires about 75% of the time. About 1 out of 4 shells I shot failed to fire. That is not with cheap ammo either. When it did shoot, it jammed about every 4th shot. It was clean, and I tried adjusting the tension spring. Umarex is not helpful in getting it shooting either. They act like there is no problem. They insist that you do not take the gun down any further than they recommend. If you do, it will void the warranty. The problem is that their recommended take-down is not nearly enough to get the gun clean. There is NO WAY you can clean this gun taking it down only to the point they recommend. And if it is the LEAST BIT dirty, it will not shoot at all. Colt made a HUGE mistake lending their name to this piece of junk. Because of this, I will never own a firearm with the Colt name on it again. Stay AWAY from this piece of junk. It is NOT a Colt!
