Auto-Ordnance 1911 PKZ

Kahr’s parent company had been in the business of precision machining since 1981, and that expertise was quickly put to use improving the Auto-Ordnance line.

Over the years, Auto-Ordnance has catalogued a varied of M1911-style pistols in various lengths and calibers. It would be fair to say, however, that neither gunsmiths nor the shooting public ever placed these guns on a par with the very best commercial Government Model pistols. Particularly in recent years, Auto-Ordnance pistols were reputed to be assembled from components produced by numerous manufacturers without benefit of rigorous dimensional controls or proper heat-treating.

All that changed in February 1999 when Auto-Ordnance was acquired by Kahr Arms. Though only four years old at the time, Kahr Arms had already received acclaim for both its all-steel and polymer-frame double-action 9mm Luger and .40 S&W carry pistols. Kahr’s parent company, SAEILO, had been in the business of precision machining since 1981, and that expertise was quickly put to use improving the Auto-Ordnance line…

This is a VERY well made, accurate, tight pistol. I have shot FMJ, JHP, critical duty and wadcutters through it. NO malfuntios at all. I carry it off duty and would not risk my life with a pistol that isn't totally reliable. The problem I see is people not lubricating their pistols properly and using cheap or reloaded ammo. The fit and finish on my 1911 is superb and just like I carried while in the NAVY.

I have had this gun for a little over 2 months and from day 1 it will not feed and is constantly jamming, the slide is also getting stuck. Hopefully Karh will fix the problem. I have a different model from Auto Ordnance that fires great.

All I can say is buy one. They have three version's of their 1911A1, I bought the pkzsew model, real wood grips, little extra change, but they look great. Also, it is a series 80 model, it incorporates a firing pin safety, never can have enough of those. So, it makes the triggar pull a little bit more, but not bad. Fit and finish excellent, a well fitted 1911 I might add. One FTF after 102 rounds. Just buy one, awesome platform to build upon.

I just this gun never shot it yet . I was told good and bad things . About this gun I don't know what to think . I alway wanted a ww2 style 1911 and the Auto ordnance ww2 1911 a1 is about the only one next to the Springfield gi that looks to it . But if you on a budget and looking for a ww2 1911 and can't fine the Springfield I say buy the AO there low and cost .

Comments...I used to have stovepipes until I replaced the magazine which was to tight for the round to load properly with a new one Now my 1911 works flawlessly.

I have had this model for several years. It needed a break in period of about 200 rounds. Now it runs flawlessly. Great pistol at a great price.

I have had this 1911 going on 6 years now and the only problem I have had with it was the firing pin mushroomed from the hammer hitting it. Once the firing pin was replaced it works like a champ. I am looking to get another one, because I enjoy shooting it so much. This 1911 will eat whatever I feed it, hollow points, copper ball, lead ball, +p ammo. I have recommended it to friends and family and will continue to do so.

Funny, I've had this same model for 4 years now, and NEVER had any jams with 230-grain hardball, after the break-in period of 2-300 rounds....Limp wristing?
