2010 Products: Handguns

Some of the latest gear for hunters and shooters.

Smith & Wesson Bodyguard .380

Due out in May, Smith & Wesson has contributed to the hottest trend in personal-defense with the .380 DAO Bodyguard, a sub-compact pocket-style pistol with premium features, including ambidextrous controls and an Insight integral lasersight. But wait, there’s more! For J-Frame loyalists, the Bodyguard is also available as a .38-cal. DAO five-round revolver, also with the integral laser and ambidextrous cylinder.

Taurus TCP .380
Jumping right into the popular compact .380 market, Taurus has brought out its lightest pistol ever in the TCP. This double-action only pistol weighs 10.2 ounces, is 5.25-inches long and is available in blued, stainless and titanium versions with fixed sights, checkered polymer grips and 6 + 1 capacity.

Glock Gen4
The Gen4 is the latest version of Glock’s popular Safe-Action Pistol. Available in 9 mm and .40, the Gen4 features a new backstrap system that allows users to choose among three grip circumferences for a better fit and a new dual-recoil spring system to reduce felt recoil. It is also available in their new Rough Textured Frame design to increase purchase and control.

Ruger SR9c
Shortly before SHOT, Ruger announced its latest compact pistol in 9 mm—the SR9c. While it has the same width as the full-sized SR9, its 6.85-inch length and 4.61-inch height brings the weight down to a comfortable 23.4 ounces. The SR9c comes with adjustable three-dot sights, an integral accessory rail, two magazines and a smooth trigger. For safety, the SR9c comes with a 1911-style manual safety, trigger safety, magazine disconnect and a loaded chamber indicator.

Rock River Arms PPS (Performance Piston System) Pistol
Breaking away from the traditional recoil system of the AR, Rock Rivers Arms PPS is a .223 caliber handgun featuring their patent-pending Performance Piston System. It comes with a full-length top rail for mounting accessories, an 8-inch chrome-moly barrel, an adjustable regulator and a Hogue rubber pistol grip. It has a single-stage trigger and a safety flange on the handguard to prevent the support hand from sliding toward the muzzle, and it measures 17.5 inches from end to end.

Taurus Public Defender
Taurus has brought out another version of its popular Judge revolver. Just like previous models, the Public Defender can fire .45 Colt and .410 shotshells providing a choice of self-defense loads in a smaller, more-compact package. Available in carbon or stainless steel, the Public Defender features a 3-inch barrel, Taurus’ Ribber grip, a fiber-optic sight and a reduce profile hammer.

Blackhawk 1700 Shirt
Comfort and accessibility is crucial when carrying concealed. In addition to the gun and holster being comfortable, clothing must allow the handgun to be accessible when needed. Blackhawk, long known for providing tactical gear and clothing to operators, has introduced a light, comfortable and durable casual shirt that provides concealment and access to a handgun. The 1700 Shirt is wrinkle resistant and moisture wicking with a chest pocket and low slits for pants pocket access. This garment looks and feels good while providing cover and access for everyday use.
