According to a recent study commissioned by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the firearms and ammunition industry’s job force grew by 10 percent from 2008-2009. The labor force increase represents the recent increase in demand for the American public to exercise their 2nd Amendment right to purchase firearms and ammunition. With this growth in the industry also comes an increase in positive economic impact of 45 percent from 2008-2009. The increase in economic impact for the industry also had positive effects on wildlife conservation efforts, due to the Pittman-Robertson Wildlife Restoration Act tax, which uses a portion of the revenue to support conservation efforts. The current gains translate to hunters and shooters contributing over $7.5 million daily to wildlife and conservation efforts. For the complete findings of the study, be sure to visit the NSSF industry website.
