05/17/10 Remington announced its new Hypersonic Steel steel shot today, raising the bar for lethality and energy in the steel shot market. The new Remington offering, available for 12 gauge in 3- and 3 1/2-inch shells, boasts velocities of 1,700 fps, claiming the increase in velocity can decrease lead time at 40 yards by up to 8 inches. At the heart of the shell is Remington's proprietary Xelerator wad, which can safetly sustain the increased pressures necessary for extra velocity. Coupled with a faster igniting primer, this technology allows the shot to achieve velocities about 250 fps higher than other standard high velocity steel shot. Hypersonic Steel Shot is available loaded with 1 1/8-, 1 1/4- and 1 3/4-ounces in either BB, 1, 2, or number 4 sized shot.
