7/21/2010 Browning’s relationship with Belgium’s Fabrique Nationale began in 1897 and lasted until the inventor’s death in the Liege factory in 1926. In addition to the history and description of the FN Browning pistols, including detailed chapters on the Models 1899, 1900, 1903, 1905 (06) Vest-Pocket, 1910, 1922, Baby, 1935 High Power, 110, 115, 120, 125, 135, 140, and the Husqvarna Model 1907, author Anthony Vanderlinden provides an excellent narrative on the history of FN, its sales and distribution. The author covers more than 100 contracts or variations of the guns in the 8.5x11 inch, 330-pp. volume, including famous FN pistols, such as those owned by U.S. President (and NRA Life member) Theodore Roosevelt, Belgium’s King Albert I, Gen. Martinez of El Salvador and John Browning himself. The author also supplies detailed information on the most infamous FN and the man who used it—Gavrilo Princip and the pistol (it’s not a Model 1900) that started World War I.
