8/27/2010 Sturm, Ruger & Co. announced that it is chambering its SR-556 rifle for 6.8 SPC. The SR-556/6.8 is a two-stage, piston-driven AR, with the 6.8 SPC bullet offering more muzzle energy than the traditional 5.56 mm cartridge. With increased energy, the new chambering expands the SR-556's tactical and hunting roles. The SR-556/6.8 features a chrome-lined barrel, Troy Industries folding battlesights, Quad rail and a Hogue Monogrip stock. The MSRP is $1995.
