The purpose of a threaded muzzle is to attach a sound suppressor (aka silencer). They are legal in 41 states currently. The threads have nothing to do with "less legal uses." The flash suppressor is to protect the threads.

What is the purpose of a threaded barrel on a .22 rifle? To make a look-a-like assault rifle? Does this affect the accuracy?

Come on, it's a .22! Why a flash suppressor? Don't get me wrong, I love mine and wouldn't trade or sell it. In this configuration, it's a plinker. Or could this just be an excuse to market a threaded barrel for other, somewhat less legal uses in some areas?
