10/19/2010 It seems only fitting that the Oliver Winchester Limited Edition rifles should be accompanied by a special offering of limited-edition Oliver Winchester ammunition. After all, it was a cartridge—the .44 Henry Flat—that helped make the Henry repeating rifle a success, thus paving the way for the Winchester Repeating Arms Co. Three specially packaged commemorative calibers are being offered for a limited time: the classic .30-30 Win. in a 150-grain Power-Point loading, the equally historic .45 Colt with a 250-grain round-nose lead bullet, and in a nod to the .44 Henry rimfire, the popular 40-grain, .22 Long Rifle. All three offerings feature nickel-plated cases with special commemorative “O.F.W.” headstamps and come in collectable vintage packaging featuring Oliver F. Winchester’s portrait, signature, and biography. Although all three loadings possess Winchester Ammunition’s legendary accuracy, you may not want to shoot these collectable cartridges. But if you do, you’ll definitely want to save the nickel-plated brass!
