it's about time. I had a custom rifle built in 1973 by a master gunsmith.it is in 6.5 -284 on an fn lrg ring-timney trigger-shillen brlcustom thmbhole stock in curly maple.I have shot deer at over 500 yds and several at 350-400ydsthe 6.5 bullet still amazes me.

My take is similar pushing the 6.5 creedmoor as a hunting round seems to be a marketing thing. The short case require the long BRL to get the 2700. I will stick to the swed.

I have been shooting 6.5 for over 30 years and the gun has never ceased to amaze me. I now shoot elk with the .260 and have taken 2 at over 300 yd.

The artical refers to a 26" barrel lenght. Ruger's web site say the 6.5 Creed will have a 24" barrel. What is the correct barrel lenght - and what barrel lenght was the Hornady ammo matched too?

Well, with a model seven in .260, I can push a 140 grain bullet to almost 2700 fps, and no 26 inch barrel! Don't get me wrong, Love the three swedes I have, love handing my son my .260 to hunt with but would love another cartridge in this caliber, but starting to think 26 inches is too long.
