Folio: magazine has announced the winners of its 2010 Eddie awards for editorial excellence, with AmericanRifleman.org taking home the top prize Gold in its category.

AmericanRifleman.org beat out two other finalists and a host of initial entries to win the prestigious honor in the "Association/Non-Profit Circulation of 6 or more times a year, website" category. The win comes just a year and a half after the re-launch of the American Rifleman online property, which has grown to include an active blogging and social media presence.

"It's an honor to be recognized with our first Eddie Award by a respected organization like Folio," said Ann Smith, Editor-in-Chief of NRA E-Media. "AmericanRifleman.org is the result of a multi-team effort to produce the very best editorial content of its genre. Accepting the award on behalf the E-Media team was a highlight of my career with NRA Publications."

The past winner of the Gold Eddie was Edutopia from the George Lucas Educational Foundation. The Association/Non-Profit division expanded in 2009 to include a website category.
