2/24/2011 Since 1994, Crimson Trace Corp. has expanded its product line to include laser sighting systems for handguns, long guns and even bows, and since its first contract with the Longboat Key, Fla., police department in 1996, it has enjoyed a healthy relationship with law enforcement and the military. In an effort to tailor products to the specific needs of military troops and officers, the company recently launched its Crimson Trace Defense division, which will use white light, infrared (IR) and quick-change, day-to-night sighting systems in new technology for handguns and long guns. Initial products include a dual laser/IR system for the SIG P226 and a modular, vertical foregrip with laser and IR capabilities for the M4/AR rifle. The new division recently won its first contract with the Crane Division of the Naval Surface Warfare Center for the LGD-645 IR/Laser Laserguard for the HK45C pistol.
