Friends of NRA is auctioning off a special edition, master engraved Colt 100th Anniversary M1911 pistol to commemorate the centennial of the John Browning's legendary design.

The engraving required 300 hours of work by Colt's Master Engravers George Spring, Steve Kamyk and Expert Engraver Jan Gwinnell. Over an ounce of 24-karat gold was used in the inlays, and in addition to the tastefully ornate styling, the pistol boasts genuine ivory grips scrimshawed with a bust of Samuel Colt and a specialized serial number to commemorate its uniqueness, "1911COLT001." The auction will conclude on April 28, 2011 at 9 p.m.

Why Gunbroker when Auction Arms is the official firearms auction site for the NRA? Somebody didn't get the memo?

I have been a member of the NRA most of my adult life, so it worries me that Friends of the NRA would use Gunbroker for this auction when the NRA designated Auction Arms as their Official Auction Site from the very beginning. This looks a little two faced, and I don't like two faced. Sorry.
