Gunsite Academy Honors M1911 100th Anniversary

The famous marksmanship academy celebrated the long-standing pistol design with a Centennial Pistol class, focusing exclusively on the 1911.

4/4/2011

As reported by The Daily Courier, Gunsite Academy, located in Paulden, Ariz., conducted a Centennial Pistol Class in celebration of the 100th anniversary of John M. Browning's model 1911 pistol. The several dozen participants exclusively used the 1911.

Gunsite conducted the class as a bill moved through the Arizona state legislature promoting the Colt Single Action Army as its official firearm. The 1911 was recently declared the state firearm of Utah by its own legislature, celebrating Browning's origin and longtime residency.
