Steyr Reintroduces Original Gray Scout Rifle

Steyr has reintroduced the original configuration of Jeff Cooper's Scout rifle more than 10 years after the initial collaboration hit the market in 1998.

7/12/2011

More than 10 years after its initial release in 1998, Steyr is reintroducing the Steyr Scout rifle in its original gray color, as designed by Col. Cooper himself.

Based on over a decade of collaboration with Gunsite founder and modern pistol technique legend Col. Jeff Cooper, the Steyr Scout was the fruition of Col. Cooper's Scout rifle concept, focusing on a multipurpose firearm that could be used for both hunting and personal protection, while meeting strict criteria based on portability and accuracy, among others. Though the initial trials of the rifle are well documented, the Scout rifle concept has experienced a resurgence, with overwhelming demand creating similar Scout-concept rifles, such as the Ruger Gunsite Scout.

In addition to the return to the original gray Scout, Steyr also offers models in all black, Realtree camouflage, timber woodgrain and complete Col. Jeff Cooper Commemorative Scout packages, as well.

Yeah, I would have bought one back then if I could have afforded it on a doctor's salary. maybe now that it's made in America, the price will drop to reasonable?

Over-priced then, it will be over-priced now.
