Beretta Introduces the Nano

Beretta has entered the subcompact handgun market with the new BU-9 Nano.

9/9/2011

Beretta USA has confirmed the rumors that it's entering the subcompact market with the introduction of the BU-9 Nano. In fact, the Nano should be available in  October with a suggested retail price of $475.

The most interesting feature of the Nano is its modularity. The Nano's serial number is located on its steel chassis, which allows shooters to easily change the techno-polymer grip frame from a full-size pistol, to a compact, to a subcompact or to a color other than black, all with a single serial number. The modularity of the Nano provides the option of customization and extends beyond the frame to its interchangeable sights and ambidextrous magazine release button. Owners no longer need the services of a gunsmith to change the front and rear sights, a simple hex screw allows for a host of sight options and adjustments; while left-handed shooters will appreciate the Nano's ambi mag release, an exclusive feature in the pocket pistol category.

The Beretta Nano is an Excellent Firearm, Comfortable to Carry and SIMPLE User Friendly. I put that Brick Glock 30 in te safe. This is My Carry with 147gr.

I bought a Nano last month and I love it. It's smaller than my G26 and much more comfortable for carry. Handles the 147 gr 9mm loads just fine. Now my primary carry weapon.

No cigar for the suburban CCW crowd. My wife carries in a purse, around the kids. She won't do that without a manual safety. Search YouTube "accidental shooting" to see why. . The cool guys all sneer at thumb safeties. Let 'em. She carries a S&W bodyguard because it has one. The market speaks.

We need the Beretta NANO in .40 cal. and also a sub-compact version with inter-changeable back straps.

Beretta has been in the sub-compact market forever (Bobcat, etc.). The PX-4 sub-compact has been out for a few years (though it really isn't compact). The Nano is just their first "sub-compact" (I regard it as a compact as sub-compact is marketing hype and should be reserved for "mouseguns") in 9mm or better. The 92 compact isn't truly compact either, and not many people care to carry a steel upper/lower gun these days.

@ntudr_800, Beretta has a 92 compact 9mm with a 13 rd mag. It has a shorter barrel (4.29") and more compact frame than the 92FS. The model# is JS92F14. You can find it online at Buds Gun Shop or just search JS92F14 to find it elsewhere. Sounds like what you're looking for.

Hey Beretta? How about a Beretta 92FS/M9 that is a bit smaller (still full size or large-medium size) than the original. That holds 15 or so rds. Same look and reliability. Just...slightly smaller. Like a Walther P38. And no more than $600 OTD. NOT polymer grips... Steel upper & lower. That's be nice....
