9/26/2011 Chiappa Firearms has introduced two .45-70, lever-action carbines that can handle full-powered modern loads, or more traditional era-correct loads. One is the 1886 Traditional Trapper, a walnut and blued carbine with an 18 1/2-inch octagon barrel and case-colored receiver, lever and crescent butt. The other is the same as the Trapper, but the barrel, action, hammer and lever are finished in weather resistant tough brushed electroless nickel and the walnut stock is covered in rubber armor. The Kokiak Trapper also come with detachable swing swivels, a more inline stock and a higher comb. Both carbines are chambered in .45-70 and have a six-round magazine capacity. The MSRP on the Traditional Trapper is $1,249, while the Kodiak Trapper retails for $1,395. For more information go to Chiappa's website.
