2/8/2012 James D. Julia Auctioneers, the world’s foremost auctioneer of rare high quality firearms, will be conducting one of the most historic firearms auctions of their history. Three of the finest collections of firearms and knives ever amassed during the 20th & 21st century will be included in this extraordinary auction. 1) The Wes Adams Collection: Mr. Adams was a self-made man whose life story emulates that of Horatio Alger. His brilliant mind, passion for firearms and unwillingness to accept “no” helped him to amass one of the finest collections of Winchesters ever formed. Everything in his collection is of phenomenal condition and/or rarity and/or unique. In general the condition and quality is literally breathtaking. This is the first of three auctions to dispose of Mr. Adam’s estate. 2) Dr. Jim Lucie Collection of Scagel Knives: Dr. Lucie was a friend, scholar, author and passionate collector of William Scagel knives. Scagel is the undisputed Moses of the modern high-art knife culture in the world today. Born in the late 19th century, he produced superb quality utilitarian knives and blades with a totally unnecessary artistic flare. His knives were highly sought after during his lifetime and some are worth their weight in gold today. Dr. Lucie’s collection, based on rarity, quality, condition and numbers is one of the finest if not the finest such collection in the world today. His collection will most definitely be the finest offering ever to come to auction. 3) Estate of Robert Howard: Robert Howard from Hemphill, Texas, was one of the great firearms collectors of the 20th century. His pension for quality and rarity and his diverse taste resulted in one of the most comprehensive collections of high quality firearms. This will be the final sale of the Howard Collection and represents a very special opportunity for collectors. 4) Other Collections and Estates: This auction will include a diverse spectrum of high quality, rare and desirable firearms in almost all collecting venues. An important offering of Civil War and Confederate items from a single owner collection, an excellent collection of Class III and military arms, superb high quality sporting arms by some of the finest makers in the world, extraordinary Colts, Smith & Wessons, rare Sharps, early percussion and flint arms, rare Kentuckys, historic arms and swords, Western related items and much, much more.
