Piston Delivery: The Adcor Defense B.E.A.R (Page 2)

The Brown Enhanced Automatic Rifle is a piston-operated, AR-based gun that holds tremendous promise.

Like all piston guns, the B.E.A.R. is rather expensive, but considering it has advanced to Phase II of the Army’s Individual Carbine competition, it has already proven itself through a lot of harsh testing. For that reason alone, the B.E.A.R. from Adcor Defense is worth watching.

Very interesting. They had some pretty serious quality control issues initially back in 2011. If they've gotten that straightened out, I'm intrigued.

I think you are way off on your MSRP for a full ADCOR Bear Elite rifle per ADCOR Defense's website MSRP is 2792.00 for the ADCOR Elite. This makes it hard for us dealers that are charging a fair price to try to tell a client that $1849.00 is not the price for one. They think we are gouging them! Please correct the MSRP.

Love this B.E.A.R. gun, but I have an issue with the article. "The M-16 system is more than proven." Stated in the first paragraph. Then later admitting that fine dust in Iraq causes clogged up actions. Still having issues? I never heard about all the issues with the M-16 in Vietnam from the press, but reading books by Vietnam survivors, I have read plenty of horror stories of how the guns malfunctioned. So this backflip on the proven weapon hit a nerve with me. Thank you.

These guys know high-speed machines. They also build state of the art high speed bottling machines for Coke, Gatorade, Pepsi. They took a FRESH look at the AR and brought real innovation. They are not armorers. They were not stuck to OLDTHINK. For years, Congress limited small arms manufacturing for purchase by the US military to Colt, FN, and GD (no longer in it) by law. This made the incumbents and their engineers intellectually lazy to innovation. The military down selected Adcor but the BIGS will do whatever they can to keep the 1990s status quo.
