The American Gunsmithing Institute has released a new DVD course on customizing the AR-15. Hosted by Master Gunsmith Sgt. Mark Foster, “AR15:Practical, Tactical or Tacti-Cool” shows how to build mission-oriented ARs, with explanations of why specific accessories were chosen.

In the course, students also see examples of triggers, grips, optics, lights, rails, barrels, stocks, gas systems and much more. For each category, Foster outlines what works well, telling viewers what to avoid and why.

Foster also discusses and shows some of the tools needed for changing barrels and hand guards, but more importantly, demonstrates step-by-step how to change a barrel and install a free-floating hand guard.

Through the course, viewers will learn how to design and build his or her own customized AR, including ARs tailored for different missions such as hunting, SWAT, 3-gun and home defense, for $79.95, plus shipping and handling.

I was very excited about this article until I saw the price $80 wow. For $80 I would expect a little more one-on-one interaction
