Years ago up in the Dakotas, as a young gun-struck kid, I was handed one of these by the local barber to clean up and put in the local museum. In my youthful ignorance, I was indeed surprised to see the Colt address on the top of the barrel of this neglected "Winchester". With the help of the very few existing books on gun collecting I educated myself on a unique rifle. Over the years I lost track of the piece and have no idea where it wound up. I always wanted one of my own but like everything else the price stayed ahead of my discretionary bankroll. It's delightful to see Uberti come out with one, and I "need" a Burgess carbine in .44-40. Make that "need badly".

At $1,476.00 I don't think the American public is going to leave the Marlin 336 in the dust. Too much for the average Joe looking for a hunting rifle.
