Camouflaging Your Gun

Painting your rifle is an easy DIY project that makes for a great off-season activity. Spray painting a gun is virtually impossible to foul up for the simple reason that there’s no such thing as a right or wrong way to camo a gun. From the article "DIY: Camouflaging Your Gun."

I note you didn't paint the magnification markings so you could use them later. Here's a trick we used: Fill the markings with grease pencil, color doesn't matter. Go ahead and paint, then clean out the grease pencil with a dull stylus. If desired, lighter fluid will get the rest of it, and also help blend things in with the surroundings. Just an idea you might find useful.

Thanks for including photos of professionally done rifles, particularly those appropriate for desert environments. This looks easier than I expected.

I liked it. Nothing said about colors of paint recommended for various venues or how self applied paint stands up to cleaning solvents. I hadn't thought of using mesh or leaves.
