Ruger Produces "Coyote Special" (Updated)

Ruger honors Texas' Gov. Perry with special edition LCP.

UPDATE 06/02/10

As The Shooting Wire reported, Baron Engraving, of Trumbell, Conn., engraved the slides of the entire lot of the 1,000 special Ruger LCPs in just four days. The engraving reads, "Coyote Special" and "A True Texan," in tribute to Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

05/26/10

As originally reported by The Austin-American Statesman, Sturm, Ruger and Co. has produced a special edition of its LCP pistol to commemorate the incident when Texas Governor Rick Perry, out for a morning jog, defended himself and his dog from a prowling coyote.

The shooting stirred up controversy, but Texas law states it's legal to kill coyotes when they threaten livestock or domestic animals.

The pistol is marked "Coyote Special" on one side, and 'A True Texan' on the reverse. Visit the Statesman's website to see the photos.

I wonder if you can buy the slide with the engraving on it?
